Driver dies after a multi-vehicle crash - Greenacre

A driver has died after a multi-vehicle crash in Sydney's south west today.

About 3.20pm (Saturday 29 March 2025), emergency services were called to the Hume Highway, Greenacre, following reports of a multi-vehicle crash.

Officers attached to Bankstown Police Area Command were told a van, a hatchback, and a sedan collided.

The driver of the hatchback – a man believed to be in his 20s – was treated at the scene however, he could not be revived.

He is yet to be formally identified.

The male driver of the sedan was subjected to a roadside breath test, which returned with a negative result.

The male driver of the van was taken to Liverpool Hospital for a mandatory testing.

All other occupants were taken to hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

A crime scene has been established and an investigation into the incident has been commenced.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.

The westbound lanes of The Hume Highway, between Northcote Road and Rawson Road, are closed, police urge public to avoid the area at this time.
