Teens charged over alleged robbery - Metford

Three teenagers will face court charged over an alleged robbery near Maitland last week.

About 11.10am on Thursday 27 March 2025, police were called to a liquor store on Chelmsford Drive, Metford, following reports of a robbery.

At the scene, officers were told that three males entered the business and allegedly threatened to stab an employee before leaving with bottles of spirits.

Following extensive inquiries, two boys – both aged 15 – were arrested on Friday 28 March 2025 and taken to Maitland Police Station.

One of the boys was charged with robbery in company, while the other was charged with robbery in company and two counts of shoplifting.

They were granted strict conditional bail to appear before a children's court on Thursday 17 April 2025.

Following further inquiries, officers attached to Port Stephens-Hunter Police District arrested a 14-year-old boy yesterday (Tuesday 1 April 2025).

He was taken to Maitland Police Station where he was charged with two counts of shoplifting, and robbery in company.

He was also charged with seven counts of dishonestly obtain financial advantage etc by deception in relation to a separate incident.

He was granted strict conditional bail to appear before a children's court on Thursday 17 April 2025.
