Two teens charged following alleged pursuit - Keiraville

Two teenage boys have been charged following an alleged pursuit in Keiraville this morning.
About 4am, (Wednesday 2 April 2025), officers attached to Wollongong Police District were patrolling Crown Street, Wollongong when they saw a Hyundai Santa Fe.
Checks revealed the vehicle had allegedly been stolen from a Leppington address on Tuesday 1 April 2025.
Police attempted to stop the vehicle on Robsons Road, Keiraville; however, when it allegedly failed to stop as directed a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit continued to Mt Ousley Road before the driver of the car allegedly stopped in the middle of the road and reversed into a police car.
A male constable has opened the passenger door of the vehicle in an attempt to arrest the occupants; however, he was allegedly assaulted before the driver drove away with part of the officer’s body still in the vehicle.
The vehicle allegedly continued for about 150 metres before it stopped and the driver – a 17-year-old boy and the 16-year-old passenger – were arrested.
The driver was taken to Wollongong Hospital under police guard for mandatory testing.
The younger boy was taken to Wollongong Police Station.
The 17-year-old boy – who police will allege in Court was the driver - was charged with six offences – police pursuit – not stop – drive at speed, take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, assault police in execution of duty causing actual bodily harm, resist police, use offensive weapon in company to prevent detention and stalk/intimidate.
The 16-year-old boy was charged with four offences – resist police, be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, assault police in execution of duty causing actual bodily harm and commit Section 154A offence and disseminate (post and boast).
Both boys were refused bail to appear at a childrens court tomorrow (Thursday 3 April 2025)
