Man charged with assaulting police - Albury

A man has been charged after allegedly assaulting a police officer in the state’s south over the weekend.
About 12am on Saturday 5 April 2025, police attended a motel on the corner of Ebden Street and Wodonga Place, Albury, following reports of an alleged assault.
On scene, officers attached to Murray River Police District spoke to a 27-year-old man and woman.
Police will allege the man ran at a female constable and knocked her onto the ground, before running away.
A short foot pursuit followed, the man allegedly resisted arrest after OC spray was deployed.
He was taken to Albury Police Station, where he was charged with assault police officer in execution of duty cause actual bodily harm, hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty and contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (Domestic).
He was refused bail to appear in Albury Local Court on Monday 14 April 2025.
The constable was taken to Albury Base Hospital for treatment of injuries.
