Two charged over alleged attempted armed robbery and pursuit - Port Macquarie

A man and a woman have been charged following an alleged armed robbery and subsequent pursuit in the state’s north earlier today.

About 11.50am today (Tuesday 8 April 2025), police were called to a service station on Pacific Drive, Port Macquarie, following reports of an alleged armed robbery.

A male and a female entered the store before they assaulted a female employee, stealing a number of consumables and left the scene in a white 4WD.

A crime scene was established, and police commenced an investigation into the incident.

A short time later, the vehicle was sighted by police on Pacific Drive, Port Macquarie. When the vehicle failed to stop, police commenced a pursuit.

The pursuit continued along Pacific Drive onto the Highway and back into the township of Port Macquarie along Hastings River Drive, before the vehicle was stopped in Morton Street, Port Macquarie, with the two occupants from the vehicle leaving the scene on foot.

A short time later, police arrested a 30-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man nearby.

They were taken to Port Macquarie Police Station where the man was charged with four offences - aggravated armed robbery and inflict actual bodily harm, police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, refuse to supply oral fluid sample and drive whilst disqualified.

The woman was charged with three offences - aggravated armed robbery and inflict actual bodily harm (accessory after the fact), police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously and driver manner dangerous.

They were both refused bail, to appear in Port Macquarie Local Court tomorrow (Wednesday 9 April 2025).
