Four people charged following firearms compliance operation - Riverina PD

Four people have been charged with various offences, following a police operation focusing on firearms compliance in the state’s south.
Officers attached to Riverina Police District with assistance from Southern Region Operations Support Group and Southern Region Enforcement Squad executed five search warrants in Wagga, Ashmont, Mount Austin, Tolland and Glenfield Park yesterday (Wednesday 16 April 2025).
During the operation, four people were charged with multiple offences – and police seized the following:
- 56.28g Methamphetamine
- 25.09g Cannabis
- 144mg Buprenorphine
- 23g MDMA
- $4,050 cash
- 2 vials of steroids
- A functioning Taser
- 2 throw knives, 1 throwing hatchet, 1 Zombie knife and 12 other knives
- 1 x replica pump action shotgun and 1 x replica pistol (both prohibited)
Incidents of note:
- About 8am, police served a Firearms Prohibition Order (FPO) and Weapons Prohibition Order (WPO) at a home in Blake Street Wagga Wagga. Police searched the home and allegedly seized a pump action shot gun gel blaster firearm and a replica pistol. An 18-year-old-man was arrested and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station. He was charged with possess unauthorised firearm, possess unauthorised pistol, acquire etc firearm-subject to prohibition order and supply etc firearm to person subject to prohibition order. He was refused bail to appear in Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Thursday 17th April 2025).
- About 12.50pm, police executed a search warrant at a home on Fernleigh Road, Ashmont, where officers allegedly located an amount of drugs and cash. A 20-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station, where he was charged with supply prohibited drugs more than indictable and less than commercial quantity, deal with property proceeds of crime and possess prohibited drug. He was granted conditional bail to appear before Wagga Wagga Local Court on Wednesday 4 June 2025.
- About 11.30am, police executed a search warrant at a home on Poulton Street, Ashmont, where a 30-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman were arrested. They were taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station. The man was charged with supply prohibited drug more than indictable and less than commercial quantity. The woman was charged with supply prohibited drug more than indictable and less than commercial quantity and deal with property proceeds of crime. The man was refused bail to appear in Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Thursday 17th April 2025), while the woman was granted conditional bail to appear before Wagga Wagga Local Court on Wednesday 11 June 2025. Police allegedly seized a taser, knives, hatchets and drugs during a search of the property.
