Fatal single-vehicle crash - Canowindra

A person has died following a single-vehicle crash in the state’s Central West.

Emergency services were called to Canowindra Road, 15km north of Canowindra, about 7:45am today (Sunday 20 April 2025), following reports of a crash.

Officers attached to Chifley Police District attended and found a Toyota had left the roadway, crashed and caught fire.

Rural Fire Service NSW officers extinguished the fire however the driver died at the scene. The person is yet to be formally identified.

A crime scene was established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash commenced.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.

Canowindra Road is closed in both directions at Canowindra due to a serious car crash around 15 kilometres north of Canowindra.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use an alternative route.
