Woman charged after alleged break and enter, assault - Orange

A woman has been charged following an alleged break and enter in the state’s central west last week.

About 7am on Friday 18 April 2025, officers attached to Central West Police District were called to a home on Autumn Street, Orange, following reports of an assault.

Police arrived to find a 34-year-old woman restrained by a man in his 60s and a woman in her 50s in front of the home.

Police were told the occupants of the home had interrupted the woman – who was allegedly armed with a knife – while she was attempting to steal a vehicle from the driveway after breaking into the home and taking keys and other items.

During the incident, the man suffered cuts to his arms and hands, while the woman in her 50s sustained minor injuries to her knees, hands and head. Both were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, with neither requiring hospital treatment.

A crime scene was established and police commenced an investigation.

The 34-year-old woman was arrested and taken to Orange Police Station where she was charged with:

  • Aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence,
  • Two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm,
  • Possess prohibited drug, and
  • Use offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence.

The woman was refused bail and appeared at Parramatta Local Court on Saturday 19 April 2025, where she was formally refused bail to appear before Orange Local Court on Thursday 24 April 2025.
