Man charged after 40kg of cannabis seized - Operation Anzac Day

A man has been charged after 40kg of cannabis was located during a vehicle stop in the state’s west.
About 3:15pm yesterday (Friday 25 April 2025), officers attached to Barrier Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were conducting stationary road-side breath testing on the Barrier Highway – approximately 150m east of the New South Wales and South Australian border – in relation to Operation Anzac Day 2025.
A Mazda CX5 was stopped, and police spoke with the driver and only occupant, a 64-year-old man.
Police searched the vehicle when they allegedly located approximately 40kg of cannabis, with an estimated street value of $800,000.
The man was arrested and taken to Broken Hill Police Station where he was charged with supply prohibited drug > commercial quantity and possess prohibited drug.
He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Bail Court today (Saturday 26 April 2025).
