Man charged over alleged serious domestic violence offences - Nabiac

A man has been charged over alleged serious domestic violence offences in the state’s Mid North Coast region.

About 12.40am today (Friday 25 April 2025), emergency services were called to a home on Byron Road, Nabiac following reports two people were being assaulted.

On arrival, officers attached to Manning/Great Lakes Police District were told a 43-year-old man had allegedly forced entry to the home before assaulting a man and woman – both aged 70 – with a baseball bat.

When police attempted to stop the 43-year-old from leaving, he allegedly punched an officer before he was arrested and taken to Taree Police Station.

The 70-year-old man and woman – who are believed to be known to the 43-year-old – were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for fractures and lacerations, before the woman was taken to John Hunter Hospital and the man was taken to Manning Base Hospital.

Police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the incident.

While in police custody, the 43-year-old man allegedly attempted to spit at police.

He has since been charged with:

  • Aggravated break and enter, commit serious indictable offence – people there
  • Armed with intent to commit serious indictable offence
  • Assault occasioning actual bodily harm – two counts
  • Take and drive conveyance without consent of owner
  • Contravene prohibition/restriction in apprehended domestic violence order
  • Assault police officer in execution of duty – two counts

He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court tomorrow (Saturday 26 April 2025).
