Man charged following multi-vehicle crash - Parramatta

A man has been charged following a multi-vehicle crash at Parramatta yesterday.

About 4.40pm yesterday (Saturday 26 April 2025), emergency services were called to Argyle Street, Parramatta, following reports of a multi-vehicle crash.

Officers attached to Parramatta Police Area Command were told a Toyota hatchback and a Hyundai hatchback have collided each other before the Toyota hatchback crashed into two other vehicles - a Suzuki sedan and a Kia SUV – and the driver of Toyota hatchback attempted to leave the scene.

Following inquiries, police arrested the driver of Toyota – a 31-year-old man – at the scene before he was taken to Westmead Hospital for further treatment and mandatory testing.

His passenger – a woman believed to be in her 30s – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to the same hospital in a stable condition.

All other drivers were not injured, and they were subjected to roadside breath test, returned with negative results.

A crime scene was established and an investigation into the incident has commenced.

Following his release from hospital about 4:00pm today (Sunday 27 April 2025), the 31-year-old man was arrested and conveyed to Parramatta Police Station.

The man was charged with seven offences - dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm - drive manner dangerous, negligent driving (occasions grievous bodily harm), cause bodily harm by misconduct, in charge of a motor vehicle (two counts), negligent driving (no death or grievous bodily harm), proceed through red traffic light and hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty.

He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court on Monday 28 April 2025.
