A man has been charged following a pursuit in Sydney’s south west.

About 12.20am today (Monday 28 April 2025), officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command attempted to stop a grey sedan on the Camden Valley Way, Leppington, after it was allegedly detected exceeding the speed limit.

When the driver failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated before the sedan allegedly reached speeds of up to 190km/h.

A short time later, the vehicle left the road and crashed near the intersection of Camden Valley Way and Cowpasture Road, Leppington.

Police arrested the driver – a 23-year-old man – and passenger – a 17-year-old male.

They were both assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics and did not require any treatment.

Following inquiries, the 17-year-old was released without any charges.

The driver was subjected to roadside drug and breath tests which returned negative results.

He was taken to Narellan Police Station and charged with motor vehicle exceed speed greater than 45km/h, police pursuit – not stop – drive at speed, and negligent driving.

He has been granted strict conditional bail to appear at Picton Local Court on Thursday 15 May 2025.
