Man charged after fatal crash between car and motorcycle - Greenacre

A man has been charged over his alleged involvement in a fatal crash in Sydney’s south west last month.

About 7.55pm on Tuesday 28 May 2024, emergency services were called to the intersection of the Hume Highway and Worth Street, Greenacre, following reports of a crash between a car and motorcycle.

The rider and pillion passenger of the motorcycle – a 26-year-old man and 24-year-old woman – both died at the scene.

The driver of the car – a 25-year-old man – was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Police believe the motorcycle was part of a convoy at the time of the crash.

Officers from the Crash Investigation Unit examined the crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

About 4.30pm yesterday (Saturday 8 June 2024), a 31-year-old man was arrested at Bankstown Police Station.

He was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death – drive manner dangerous (two counts), dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, and organise promote or take part in race between vehicles.

He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Bail Court today (Sunday 9 June 2024).
