A single-vehicle crash in the state’s north yesterday is no longer deemed a critical incident investigation.

About 10.30pm yesterday (13 June 2024) officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol observed a motorcycle pass them on North Rous Road, Goonellabah.

No pursuit was initiated.

A short time later, police observed the motorcycle on its side at the intersection of Hamley Road and Phillip Street, Goonellabah, without a rider.

A 15-year-old boy approached police requesting urgent medical attention.

NSW Ambulance paramedics attended the scene and treated the 15-year-old boy before he was taken to Lismore Base Hospital. He was later flown to Gold Coast University hospital for assessment and treatment of his injuries.

Inquiries revealed the motorcycle had allegedly been stolen from Lismore on Monday 10 June 2024.

A critical incident team from Tweed/Byron Police District began investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following a further update from the Gold Coast University Hospital as to the current condition of the young person, the matter was no longer deemed a critical incident.
