Man charged over serious crash near Mudgee

A man has been charged following an investigation into a serious crash in the state’s Central West earlier this year.
About 12.30am on Monday 1 April 2024, emergency services were called to the Castlereagh Highway, Burrundulla, approximately 9km south-east of Mudgee, following reports of a single-vehicle crash.
Police were told a white Holden Commodore left the road and crashed into a tree before coming to rest in bushes.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the two men occupants – both aged 22 – at the scene.
The passenger was airlifted to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition and the driver was taken to Mudgee Hospital in a stable condition and underwent mandatory testing, the passenger has since been released from hospital.
Officers from Orana Mid-Western Police District established a crime scene and an investigation was commenced by the Crash Investigation Team.
Following inquiries, about 3.40pm on Saturday (6 July 2024), a 22-year-old man attended Rose Bay Police Station and was issued a future court attendance notice and charged with;
- Aggravated dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm – PCA
- Aggravated dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm >45 km/h
- Dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm - drive under the influence
- Dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm - drive manner dangerous
- Drive with high range PCA
- Class A motor vehicle exceed speed >45 km/h, and
- Negligent driving (occasions grievous bodily harm).
The Eastern Suburbs man will appear a Mudgee Local Court on Tuesday 3 September 2024.
