Man dies following alleged stabbing - South Albury

A man has died following an alleged stabbing in South Albury last night.

About 6:15pm yesterday (Monday 8 July 2024), emergency services were called to a carpark at Wodonga Place, South Albury, following reports of a stabbing.

Officers attached to Murray River Police District attended and found a man, believed to be aged in his 30s, with a stab wound to his chest.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man at the scene before he was taken to Albury Base Hospital, where he died.

The man is yet to be formally identified.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.

A crime scene has been established with police commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following inquiries, police arrested a 28-year-old man in Olive Street, Albury.

He was taken to Albury police Station where he is assisting Police with their inquiries.
