Two charged after firearm allegedly produced at park - St George PAC

Two men will face court after a firearm was allegedly produced at park in Sydney’s south west.

About 1.20pm on Tuesday (9 July 2024), officers attached to St George Police Area Command were called to Penshurst Park, on Cambridge Street, after reports a man was allegedly seen carrying a firearm.

Police were told the man left in a red utility, and subsequently commenced a search of the area.

Following inquiries, officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command stopped the red utility on Forrest Road, Penshurst, about 1.30pm same day.

During a search of the vehicle, officers located and seized a prohibited firearm and a small amount of drug – believed to be cannabis and methylamphetamine.

The male driver and his two male passengers, all aged 19, were arrested and taken to Hurstville Police Station.

One of the two passengers was charged with possess unauthorised pistol and two counts of possess prohibited drug.

The other passenger was charged with an outstanding warrant related to a driving offence.

The driver was released without any charges.

Both passengers were refused bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court on Wednesday (10 July 2024).
