Woman dies after being struck by train - Punchbowl

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner following the death of a woman at Punchbowl Train Station yesterday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to platform one about 3.30pm (Tuesday 9 July 2024), and found a 52-year-old woman had died after being struck by a citybound train.

Officers attached to Police Transport Command have been told the woman climbed onto the track to retrieve something she’d dropped and was unable to get back onto the platform.

Police have spoken with a number of people at the scene and have viewed CCTV as part of inquiries.

The train driver returned a negative breath test.
