Stolen memorial plaques located, investigation ongoing - Tweed Heads

An investigation is continuing after more than 100 stolen memorial plaques were located at Tweed Heads yesterday.

Police have been told between 5.30pm on Monday 19 August and 7am on Tuesday 20 August 2024, more than 100 plaques were stolen from headstones at a cemetery on Kirkwood Road, Tweed Heads South.

About 2pm yesterday (Wednesday 21 August 2024), police were recalled to the cemetery following reports the plaques were located near the site.

Nearby, police located and seized a crowbar and set of screwdrivers which will undergo forensic examination.
