Hiker missing in bushland for six days located safe and well - Blue Mountains

A hiker who has been missing in bushland in the Blue Mountains for six days has been located safe and well.

The 33-year-old woman was last seen at Katoomba on Friday evening (13 December 2024).

When she could not be located or contacted, officers attached to Blue Mountains Police Area Command were notified and commenced inquiries into her whereabouts.

About midday on Saturday (14 December 2024), the woman’s vehicle was located abandoned on Galwey Lane, Mt Wilson.

A widescale land and air search of bushland at Mt Wilson continued throughout the week. The search included local police with the assistance of Police Rescue, PolAir, NSW Ambulance Service, State Emergency Service and the Rural Fire Service.

About 2.30pm today (Thursday 19 December 2024) a Rural Fire Service helicopter spotted the woman in bushland.

Police Rescue officers and NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the woman at the scene for minor injuries and dehydration. She was later airlifted to Nepean Hospital for further treatment.
