What does the Firearms Permit authorise?
This permit authorises a person who has indicated on a P650 declaration that they have previously been refused or prohibited from holding a firearms licence or had a firearms licence or permit suspended, cancelled or revoked, to undertake a Firearms Safety Training.
What timeframe does the Firearms Permit remain valid?
The permit will be valid for a period of twenty-eight (28) days from the date of issue. The permit holder must undertake the required course specified in Part 2 of the Legitimate Reason form within this timeframe.
Is there a fee for applying for the Firearms Permit?
A fee is not required for this permit. You are not required to complete Section I – FEE on the Firearms Permit application form.
How do I submit my completed Firearm Permit and Legitimate Reason form?
The application form, legitimate reason form and any required supporting documentation can be submitted via post to Locked Bag 5102, Parramatta NSW 2124.

The application and legitimate reason forms are interactive. You must complete both forms, print and then mail to the Firearms Registry, Locked Bag 5102, Parramatta NSW 2124.
